Mercedes Conus, M.A., EMDR

Mercedes has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children. Mercedes graduated from the National Louis University with her bachelor’s in psychology and received her master’s in clinical mental health counseling from National Louis University. Mercedes is passionate about helping people find emotional, mental, and spiritual healing in their lives. With the pressures that can come from work, family and/or society in general, her goal is to provide people with a safe space where they can process their current life events and/or past issues that are troubling them.

Mercedes has had very intense experiences working with different cultures around the world. She has lived in France, Italy, Germany, England, and Spain before she moved to the US in 2000. Some of the fields she has worked in include physical/sexual/emotional abuse, life adjustment, stress management, anger management, self-esteem, grieving and school refusal. The last 7 years, Mercedes primarily worked with depression, anxiety, self-harm, ADHD, Bipolar, Borderline personality, Trauma, Schizophrenia, and DID, and Addiction and Disruptive behavior in children and teenagers, Relationship/marital issues and post-partum depression. She has an intensive experience with individual, group, couple, and family therapy. Mercedes uses DBT, EMDR, CBT, Solution Focused Brief therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person-centered therapy and Psychoanalysis to address symptoms of mental illness, trauma, life cycle adjustments and various other presenting issues.

Mercedes uses a holistic approach by engaging the whole person including different levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Using personal traits such as empathy and compassion, she builds a positive rapport with her clients and families to shape a successful therapeutic process. Her passion is to help teens, adults, couples, and families achieve a greater sense of stability and happiness in creating better relationships with themselves and others. Her compassionate and empathetic approach allows clients to feel heard, validated, and understood, which is essential for healing. Mercedes is fully bilingual (Spanish/English). She has over 15 years of experience in social work and counseling combined. Mercedes understands how busy life gets and will do her best to accommodate a variety of hours as well as virtual sessions to meet her client’s needs.
